My name is Jaz Aulakh, and like many entrepreneurs, my journey began long before Motorcity Digital Marketing existed. I moved to the United States at 15 years old, entering high school as a sophomore who barely spoke English. Overnight, I found myself in a new country, a new culture, and an entirely new world. We lived in a small two-bedroom apartment, I slept on the floor, we had no car, and every day felt like starting from zero.
But what we lacked in resources, we made up for in determination. I pushed myself to learn the language, adapt, and excel—often with nothing but effort, discipline, and grit to rely on. I learned the value of hard work early, balancing three jobs at a time in high school while helping support my family and preparing for college.
As a first-generation college student, I was determined to rewrite the narrative for my family. I attended the University of Michigan–Dearborn, where I earned my BBA in Finance. My college years were intense—I took 22 credits per semester, completed finance internships during the day, and attended classes at night. Each challenge strengthened my ambition and helped build the foundation for the future I was working toward.
That drive led me into the world of high finance, where I later worked at Morgan Stanley and the London Stock Exchange. These experiences shaped my understanding of business, strategy, and what it means to operate with excellence at a global level.
But everything changed when I left New York during COVID. For the first time in years, I had space to reflect. I realized I wanted to build something of my own—something meaningful that would give me the freedom to serve others while creating a lasting legacy.
I explored entrepreneurship, experimented with e-commerce, and eventually discovered my passion for service-based businesses, especially web design, local SEO, and digital marketing strategies for small businesses. What began as a one-man operation designing websites slowly grew—client by client, referral by referral—into something much bigger.
That was the beginning of Motorcity Digital Marketing.
